About

Kaylie is a multimedia artist living in North Carolina. After getting her BFA from Appalachian State University, she began working as an art instructor at Holt School of Fine Art in 2022.

In college she primarily focused on drawing, making large scale paint-like images with charcoal. Charcoal was and still continues to be one of her preferred mediums but has since found a love for oil paints. Along with charcoal and oil, she loves to dabble with ceramics, pastels and watercolor.

Her work focuses on the self and how she fits into this ever changing and chaotic world. Using reference imagery from herself for most of her projects, she captures the human experience with bold styles that transcend different mediums. While continuing to experiment with new ideas and processes, she develops more as an artist. Kaylie’s most recent work explores perspective and using more saturated colors to create more lively and dynamic imagery.

Kaylie is very much inspired by everything around her. Whether that be from media like fantasy books, sci-fi movies, rock music, there’s never a dull moment. Her curiosity for traveling and exploring new places has given her a plethora of inspiration. Having lived in many different states, she’s enjoyed the experiences she’s captured along the way and plans to work towards getting her MFA.
